Malta will soon be revealing an ambitious project aimed specifically at lessors thus positioning the Mediterranean island as the second European jurisdiction in aircraft leasing. Until now Ireland has been the undisputed leader in Europe in this line of business. While addressing the MACE conference in Floriana, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat explained that the government will soon be unveiling a new project. This new venture is going to be in partnership with James Hogan’s Knighthood Capital.
He reiterated that there are currently 9000 leasing companies around the world and this is testimony to how huge the aircraft leasing industry is. Prime Minister Muscat explained, that at present there are a number of aviation companies actively involved in logistics, pilot training and maintenance among others that are already working profitably from the island.
