With the world’s largest turboprop manufacturer ATR on board, the 2018 edition of MAviO set the bar very high indeed. Raffaele Fiorentini and Jean Charles Burguière were in Malta, addressing the seventh edition of the conference but also forging important links with the local aviation industry. Rumours were rife, that ATR could possibly lease one or two aircraft to a local operator to start island-hopping around the Mediterranean. Although no formal agreement has been signed yet, MAviO understands that since the 2018 conference there have been a number of leads that the Franco-Italian manufacturer has been following. The attendance of Minister for Transport Dr Ian Borg reaffirmed MAviO’s position as the premier event for the Maltese aviation community at large. The well-attended conference saw also heavy presence from the media, both local as well as international.
