After months of preparations the MAviO team led by the ever enterprising CEO Marvic Bugeja has launched a mini series entitled “Bi Mħatra li Diġà Nsejt” with the aim of preserving the collective memory of important aviation events that took place since the island’s independence. The aim of the whole project is to allow those who are either involved in the industry or else have a passing interest in aviation to know more about the rich history that our island enjoys in the aeronautical field.
The first in the mini series focuses on Lt. Col. Joseph Smith, a helicopter pilot who formed part of the initial group of eight aviators who were sent to Germany for training in 1971. In this exclusive interview for MAviO TV he sheds new light on often overlooked subjects, including the Libyan Military Mission in Malta and the first helicopter rescue ever performed by the AFM. The production team led by University of Malta Senior Lecturer Riccardo Flask will be delving into uncharted waters as we bring to the fore local aviation themes that have been very rarely explored until today.
MAviO TV has been made possible thanks to the support of Enemed’s Executive Chairman Kevin Chircop and Executive Head – Aviation Division Allan Micallef, Salini Resort’s General Manager Malcolm Buhagiar and Radiosity Alpha.
