The last winners of the Enemed MAviO Leader of the Year Award have got a common denominator. All three spent their formative years within Medavia. This detail could be easily overlooked, however on closer inspection it transpires that many of those who left Medavia for pastures new enjoyed considerable success in the aviation field as they took on more executive and managerial roles.
It is worth mentioning that the Aviator of the Year in 2021, Captain Philip Apap Bologna had also started his career at Medavia flying the sturdy CASA C212 Aviocar, while ex-Managing Director Abdulrazagh Zmirli who today sits on the Aviation Advisory Committee, had also won the Leader of the Year Award ten years ago.
With five winners having all started their aviation career at the Safi-based company, it is legitimate to ask if Medavia’s ethos of nurturing talent can still be put to great effect today, as the aviation industry grapples with what can easily be termed as the largest shortage of skilled workforce ever.
