Captain John Galea was well known at Air Malta having started his career in January 1980, initially working as a clerk at the company’s head office and subsequently making the transition to the flightdeck in the early eighties. After his stellar career at the national carrier, where he rose through the ranks to become a TRI/TRE on the A320, he flew for a number of exotic operators including the now defunct Air Namibia and also Lao Airlines.
Since September 2015, he has been in the employ of TM-CAD where he oversaw a number of high-profile AOCs including that of Avion Express and Wizzair Europe. MAviO News met up with Captain Galea for a chit chat as he prepares to empty his desk and leave his office at Triq Pantar for good.
